Computers

     It is interesting that computers are just made up of transistors to which are just electronic switches on and off. That something so simple can do very complex tasks. I feel like even just the concept of how something so simple can create and do very complicated things is interesting because we can apply this to really anything to allow us to understand something at a low level. That breaking down tasks or systems to the smallest level can help us understand how things operate and maybe even give meaning to these things. 

    As far as understanding and learning we really don't think about the different Modalities that come along with that. Usually, we accept one right way that things should be done or understood. For example, me writing this blog post is something that is not a normal way generally that homework assignments are done which brings a new way of thinking and learning. For example, other professors might force you to only write out reflections some may do reflections in sort of a poll like a multiple choice all to collect data but all with different methods to get the same result. As well as often we don't think about how different modalities benefit or even just offer people options to learn and be able to critical think about problems and solutions. With limited modalities this could be reasons why some people hate certain subjects a common one like math usually associated with bad experiences. 

    It was interesting to think about how data has been stored throughout recent history and how in class we talked about a tapes, game cartridge, SD cards, and drives. Just how each different storage device stores different information and all in different ways and sizes. As well as how each of these devices have been used to store very different data on them even though they basically all do the same thing as far as its use is to store data. It's interesting to see the different sizes of them change as forms. With tapes and disk drives they having moving parts making they more vulnerable to damage and less life as well as their size there are bigger and kind of bulky and used more for like music and voice recordings. Disk drives are kind of general use since it has very large storage but usually best for longer term storage needs. SD are used for more flash memory like shorter term and faster to get on and off of it. Game cartridges were used more for games in the past.
