r/DataIsBeautiful Exploration - College ROI
This post is interesting because it shows the average return on investment for each college degree based on average annual cost of college and average income after college. It is interesting to see how regardless of private or public STEM fields is still the highest ROI and Arts ROI is negative. Depending on the person if they are in these high negative ROI fields it might be better not to attend an expensive college since the return only gets worse the more expensive college as well as since it is extremely negative it might be better to pursue art fields individually without college. The original source data is from collegeNPV. The form of this data is in a heatmap scatter plot. Some things I would add to it would be a better plot chart this chart is very scattered the most helpful graph is the listed degrees with the ROI but visually it would be better to have some sort of better visual graph. As well as a contrasting graph yes there us many degrees with high ROI and many with negative ROI but what are the degrees with the most overall satisfaction.
