r/DataIsBeautiful Exploration - Cost of Protein

This post is interesting to me because it shows a quick chart of the highest protein for the lowest cost. This is interesting because I meal prep weekly, so it shows some alternative options to get protein for cheaper, and it's also a good reference for higher protein alternatives. The original source came from Walmart's pricing and the USDA food data central for food density. The first one is from Walmart's website which is just the online pricing for each of their products. The other one is from a public data base of all the foods density meaning each and every single food is separately listed here. The diagram chart created from this post allows me and other too quickly see what has the highest protein for the least amount of cost. It is also sorted into categories making it easier to find what types of protein you want to see or look for. If I were to do the same thing some things that would improve this would be calories for each of the protein densities as calories is a big factor in most people daily diets. As well as the quality of the protein I would do it in a way that also ranks the quality of protein to show while some protein may be cheaper doesn't mean they are healthy for your body overall.
