r/DataIsBeautiful Exploration - Obesity Then vs Now
This post is interesting to me because it shows how in only 10 years there were zero states with obesity above 35% obesity rate and now it is over 22 states. This is interesting because I myself a few years ago was obese meaning this is a problem that I've overcome but is something that is getting worse overall in the US. This is also interesting to me because I am very passionate about fitness and healthy meal prepping. The source of the data came from the CDC. The original form of the data was collected by the CDC for obesity from each state listed. The data here was represented in a map of the US in 2012 and in 2022 with colors for each state which each color represents a different percentage of obesity rate. Another interesting thing is that now there are no states within a healthy obesity rate meaning most states have gotten into extreme obscenity rate range.
