Nerualink Research
Neuralink Notes
Initial Notes. Update of the first patent with Neuralink. Neuralink’s first product “Telepathy” which is to creates a generalized brain interface to restore autonomy to those with unmet medical needs. Long term goal is to mediate civilization’s risk of AI by leveling the playing field of humans and AI. Short term goal is to solve medical needs such as bridging the gaps of neurons and the body so people can use their body again. Second product blindsight which will enable someone who is blind to see again which has already worked with monkeys.
The device process. Fully implanted device with all the power and compute on the head. Surgical robot to implant the threads with micron precision. Neural decoding software to translate brain signals into useful outputs.
Telepathy goal is to unlock digital independence to allow for people who use digital products equally as someone who can and often even better. The first person with the implant can play various games without any use of hands or eyes simply just his mind playing games like speed chess and other fast paced games.
Device usage rate normal use without travel he uses normal technology to interface with the implant meaning he doesn’t need any special products to use it any technology or laptop in this case. Usage rate has been around 70 hours a week normal use with minimal re charging. Currently with the first iteration of the telepathy device he beat the world record for web grid by 2 times.
Normal human device bandwidth is around one bit per second each day. The brain is complex like a folded onion with sheets and layers of neurons. Current issues since their folds have missed parallel data rather than detecting more in the apex of the folds which is where more valuable information would be at. The implant in the future will sculp within the skull and sit flush with it.
Main goal is to give people “superpowers” not just restore functionality. Allows for multitasking. The current data rate is 10 bits per second peak rate. Current limits last 4 hours and it takes 45 min to charge.
Yes, Neuralink can repair paralysis long term. There is no physics barrier, rather a communication issue. Main implant communication currently is Bluetooth. Neuralink is a powerful research tool as there is no technology that can look at the brain and sense it like this. This will allow many breakthroughs in brain research that we haven’t seen before.
Writing
functionality is currently working with monkeys where they can flash a pixel,
and the monkey sees it but in and looks there at the pixel but in their brain. Yes,
the body is trying to get rid of the implant, but they have figured out bio
compatible tissue to keep it from moving the threads.
